20230203_K-Temple Cooking Class

Itaewon Global Village Center and Temple Food Center will hold a “K-Temple Cooking Class” on Friday, February 3rd from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Rice cake soup or “tteokguk” (떡국) is a delicious, filling soup made of disc-shaped rice cakes in a clear broth. It’s a traditional must-eat Lunar New Year’s dish. Especially this time, we will be using seaweed fulvescens or maesaengi which offers the deep flavors of the ocean. Plus, we will be making three colored Korean pickled radish wraps (mussammari). This dish is made with pickled radish, your choice of vegetables all wrapped up in a thin sheet of Korean pickled radish. It is easy to make and is served as an appetizer.

A monk will show a demonstration on how to make the two dishes, and then all participants will have the time to make them with 3-4 other participants. This is a group cooking activity so you will have to cook and share everything with your group mates. Since eating inside the cooking studio is not allowed, participants will have to bring their own containers so that they can bring home the food they made.
