- Class Days & Times : every Thursday, 4:30~5:50 pm
- Semester Period : Sep 3rd ~ Nov 12th (Thu), 2026 [Total of 10 sessions]
- Class Contents : Students should be able to read & write in Korean very well even though they don’t know what the word means. It would also be better if the students know Korean numbers. This class will mainly focus on phrases/word/expressions that are used in daily conversations
(*subject to change depending on circumstances)
- Who can join : Elementary 2nd~6th Grade Students ONLY (Born between 2013~2018)

Itaewon Global Village Center will help out at the Yongsan Senior Welfare Center on September 8, 2026 (Tuesday) from 10:00am to 11:00am. We are looking for volunteers that can join us that day.

One of the programs offered by the Yongsan Senior Welfare Center is an English class designed to help retired seniors continue learning the language. Beyond language acquisition, the class also serves as a meaningful cognitive activity that supports brain function and may help slow the progression of age-related conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

As volunteers, we will be assisting the intermediate-level class. Many of the participants previously studied English primarily through textbooks and have had limited opportunities to practice speaking. Our role will be to help them actively use the vocabulary and grammar they have learned by engaging them in conversation exercises. Questionnaires will be provided to volunteers, who will ask the questions, listen to the participants’ responses, and offer gentle corrections in grammar or pronunciation when necessary.

Volunteers will act as English tutors and conversation partners, helping seniors build confidence and improve their speaking skills in a supportive environment. Non-native English speakers are welcome to participate. However, all volunteers should be able to communicate comfortably and clearly in English.

On September 9, 2026 (Wednesday) from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Itaewon Global Village will be visiting the National Meteorological Museum of Korea (Located at Seodaemun Station, Exit 4).

The National Meteorological Museum of Korea was originally built in 1932 as the Gyeongseong Meteorological Observatory. As a designated National Registered Cultural Heritage site (2014), it stands as a living testament to Korea's continuous meteorological history. From its remarkably preserved modern architectural main building and rain gauge room to the standard trees used for seasonal observation (maple and cherry blossom), the museum preserves, honors, and shares Korea's rich meteorological heritage and world-class scientific culture with the public.

During this guided tour, participants will explore weather observation records and heritage from the Three Kingdoms Period to the present day. Following this, participants will experience the mesmerizing intersection of meteorology and art in a special exhibition centered on atmospheric "Light” - discovering the everyday beauty of rainbows, sunsets, shimmering waters and crepuscular rays redefined through scientific records and interactive artwork.

The tour is free of charge but registration is a must. Once you have completed the registration, specific details will be sent to you.

Itaewon Global Village Center will hold the “The Journey from Cotton to Thread” collaborating with Yongsan Family Park.

● Contents: Experience the traditional Korean process of making cotton thread, from cultivating cotton and separating the seeds using a traditional Korean cotton gin called Sia to preparing the cotton and spinning the fibers into thread. Participants will be divided into small teams and rotate through each stage of the process, learning about and trying the traditional methods hands-on.

On September 11, 2026 (Friday) from 10:00am to 12:00pm, the Itaewon Global Village Center will host a special class: Flower Frame Making Class

This unique program is designed to bring the timeless elegance of nature into your daily life by teaching you the basic techniques of arranging and handling delicate pressed flowers.

Participants will have the opportunity to express their creativity and craft a custom piece of home decor by artistically composing real flowers inside a transparent, double-sided glass frame. Since all materials are provided and our instructor will guide you through every step, anyone can easily create a high-quality, beautiful masterpiece.

The participation fee for this class is 30,000 won.

Seniors who have been attending Seodaemun Senior Welfare Center has requested Itaewon GVC to gather volunteers who can help them improve their English speaking skills as well as boost their confidence when speaking English language. Hence, they are looking for 15-20 volunteers.

By volunteering, you will be able to help them practice their English speaking skills. You don’t need to be a native English speaker to join. (BUT OF COURSE, THE ABILITY TO CONVERSE IN ENGLISH FLUENTLY IS REQUIRED.) Don’t worry if you cannot speak Korean.

Open to FOREIGN volunteers aged 18 years old and above.

● Contents: Create your own elegant mother-of-pearl accessories and discover the beauty of traditional Korean craftsmanship! Participants will make a matching set of two hairpins and one necklace using delicate mother-of-pearl pieces. The necklace features a surgical stainless steel chain, making it durable, lightweight, and comfortable for everyday wear. You’ll have the opportunity to design and decorate your own unique accessories while enjoying a relaxing hands-on craft experience.

Itaewon Global Village Center, together with Korean Food Promotion Institute, is hosting a Korean cooking class on September 23, 2026 (Wednesday) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Hansik Space Eum (near Anguk Station). This time we will be learning how to make yummy side dishes: Yukjeon (육전) and Buchumuchim (부추무침).

Yukjeon (육전) is a traditional Korean dish made by coating thin slices of beef in flour and beaten egg, then pan-frying them until golden and tender. It is especially associated with Korean holidays, ancestral rites, and special occasions, making it a dish that represents hospitality and celebration.
Buchu Muchim (부추무침) is a fresh side dish made with Korean garlic chives (부추), typically seasoned with red pepper flakes, garlic, vinegar, and sesame oil. Its crisp texture and refreshing, slightly spicy flavor complement the richness of yukjeon, creating a balanced combination.
NOTE: this class is only open to foreign adults (aged 19 and above)

Tras la visita a la exposición, aprenderán sobre el arte en vitral e imitarán el motivo de las puertas en arco del museo para crear su propia obra de arte en mini vitral.
